Happy Friday! How has everyone’s week been? Between adjusting to a new work schedule and trying to squeeze in some last minute holiday planning and shopping, I honestly found the past week to completely fly by! We’re in the final stretch here heading towards the holidays and I cannot wait to head home and spend some time with those I am thankful for. It’s all about the little things this time of year.
Similar to my very first Friday Favorites post that I shared last week, today I will be featuring five things that have recently made smile. I’m totally hooked on reading these type of posts on other blogs I follow. If you’re loving them too, I encourage you to check out the linkups on Heather’s Friday Favorites posts over at Life in Leggings. As always, I’d love to hear some things that you are loving this week in the comments section below!
Have a great weekend, friends!
I give into one little fashion trend and just like that I become hooked. Hence, the two very similar sweaters as shown below. 🙂
The purple cowl neck on the left is from The Limited. I actually received a text notification this morning that everything in the store and online is 70% off (including clearance!). If you have someone on your list to still shop for, or even for yourself, it may be worth a quick glance!
The grey cold sweater on the right was purchased from TJ Maxx. It was a total bargain at $12.99 and I love how lightweight and soft it is!
Apogee Wine Bar
On a scale of 1 to 10, how dangerous is it to have a such a cute, quaint and cozy bar dedicated entirely to wine literally steps from one’s apartment?
When my friend Molly suggested a visit here on Tuesday night, I was 100% in. Apogee has quickly become one of my favorite local hangouts in the Park Ave neighborhood (Half Pint is up there too!). We both had a glass of the Casala Marchese, and trust me when I say I have no idea what that means.
It was a delicious Italian white wine, yet not sweet, which is typically the way I prefer.
If you are local to the Rochester area and haven’t had a chance to visit Apogee yet, I definitely recommend! It is a perfect first stop to grab a drink before a dinner reservation or even for a low-key girls night out.
Oh man, talk about a workout!
I had been dying to try an Orangetheory class after hearing so many positive reviews from others. I scheduled my first class for this morning at 8:15, got my butt kicked, and loved every second.
As a first timer, I went in about 20 minutes early to learn more about the workout, fill out a liability form, and get set up with a free heart rate monitor.
Orangetheory Fitness is a heart rate based interval workout lead by a personal trainer in a group class atmosphere. You perform a combination of work on the treadmill, rowing machine, and strength training in various circuits.
One aspect that really intrigued me about Orangetheory is that the workouts are never duplicated. Meaning every single day equals a brand new workout.
I also loved having my heart rate, percentage of max heart rate, and calories burned shown on the large television screen above the treadmills. It was so motivating to have this information available all through my workout and a quick glance up at the screen really helped me know when to kick things up a notch.
Christmas Eve Tea
It has been brutally cold here in Rochester and as someone who gets chilly pretty easily, I am always looking for ways to warm up. This week, I’ve been hooked on Stash Christmas Eve tea that I found in Wegmans for $2.29.
This tea truly tastes like Christmas in a cup! It’s an herbal blend of spearmint and sweet, spicy flavors like cinnamon, clove and vanilla. I like to drink mine black, but a teaspoon of milk, sugar, and/or honey would be a great touch!
Kevin and I have had plans in the works for trip to Boston from December 29 – January 2 and have spent this week finalizing all the details!
It will be about a 7 hour drive (hopefully less?) for us to travel there from Rochester. Kevin has family near the city so we be staying with his cousin on our way in. I am so excited to meet everyone for the first time! And their yellow labs. 🙂
We booked a cute Air B&B in the North End for the other nights of our stay and purchased tickets to catch the Sabres vs. Bruins game on New Years Eve.
As someone who doesn’t necessarily enjoy watching sports, let alone understand them, Kevin has finally transformed me into a hockey fan! I love all the action and the fast pace of the game and now know enough to actually follow along – haha.
This will be my second NHL game and I can’t wait!
Do you have any fun NYE plans in the works?
